Pilates is a system of physical and mental conditioning formerly known as contrology.
Developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920’s, this system is unlike many forms of physical conditioning. Not only does it address strength, endurance, and flexibility; it includes awareness, balance, control, efficiency, function, and harmony.
Pilates can and will improve every facet of your life.
Why Practice Pilates?
Every body has functional limitations that will lead to injury.
Pilates address all movements of the body and works on decreasing the imbalances through gentle movement of lengthening the shortened muscles and strengthening the weaker muscles. The body becomes an efficient strong working machine, which will lead to a long active life. No other exercise system is so gentle to your body while giving it a challenging workout with incredible results.
Pilates is excellent for developing a strong “core” or center of the body. Core = abdominals, buttocks, low back, obliques, and upper inner thighs. All powerful movements begin with the core.
Pilates teaches you body awareness in your training sessions and you will use them in all aspects of life. Pilates is life changing.
Methods of Pilates Practice:
Every body is unique. As you learn Pilates, it is important to learn the exercises correctly and be observed by a trained, certified Pilates teacher.
PRIVATE SESSIONS (by appointment only)
There is no better way to experience the Pilates method than to work one on one with a well-trained Pilates Teacher. You will have the opportunity to benefit from ALL the state of the art Pilates equipment including the universal reformer, trapeze table, wunda chair, arm chair, and ladder barrel.
To fully understand Pilates and feel the benefits of a spring driven workout, the work on the apparatus is a must.
In a private session, the exercises you learn are tailored to your body and your goals. Patty will help you develop your Pilates practice so you can fully experience all of its benefits.
DUET SESSIONS (by appointment only)
Duet sessions are a less expensive option as opposed to a private session. A duet session will also utilize the same equipment as a private session but you will be with your chosen partner.
TRIOS AND PODS (SMALL GROUPS) (by appointment only)
Trio and pod classes are small in size and offer something for any fitness level. Private evaluation is required and capacity is limited.
